As part of my 6-month military service with the Melk pioneers, I was allowed to modernize the so-called “pennant (german: Wimpel)” (triangular flag) and the patch of the pioneer battalion.
Final selection from the design options of patch and pennant
The design was severely restricted for military reasons. The background scheme, symbolics and texts could hardly be changed.
Redesigning the elefant
The main task of the redesign, apart from the font and its positioning, was to modernize the look of the elephant. I chose the triangular pattern as solution because it fits in with the CI of the Austrian Armed Forces.
